My new truck/locomotive ummm... motorcycle?

Decided to swap the Fatboy and Buell for something altogether more practical... Sacrilege I know, but the Fatboy was literally a pain is the arse (my old coccyx injury) and the Buell was less than perfect for the town work...

Anyway, I went for comfort *and* speed

A dream realised

Way back, I had a dream that one day I'd fly the family to the seaside for a day out... Well we did it on Saturday! The first pic shows us walking along the cliff path towards Sandown - about 15 mins walk from the airfield. 2nd pic shows the seafront and note the weather had really cheared up - ending up at 26 Degrees C... nice.

The fish and chips were bloody lovely! :-)

The weekend was completed by a Sunday afternoon out on the bike, including a visit to a bike shop with a "hog" (it was Lamb) roast and free test rides!

Perfect solution?

This just floats my boat. Will it ever happen or be practical? No chance, at least not where I live...

A new era...

Monday see the start of my new job - working for a charity. I'm really looking forward to this - I had been trying to join the not-for-profit sector for some time...

Habit forming

This flying lark is becoming a habit - three times in one week! (ooher missus). Family outings will never be the same...

The most irritating thing?

I'm just wondering how many times this has happened... You have a technical problem so you duly email the supplier. They eventually reply, only to ask you all sorts of stupid questions the answers to which are in your original mail... Stand up Nexthaus and be counted! You have truly excelled at this trick after mailing me to ask questions that you yourselves had provided the information for in the previous email... outstanding.

2008

So here we are then, a new year. Here's to everyone that have helped or just been plain nice to me over the last 12 months. Onwards and upwards.

It just keeps getting better...

I just got a note back from the CAA - they can't issue my license because two of my exams were signed off by the wrong person... I wonder if someone somewhere is trying to tell me something?

Well done old chap- good for you!

Ears still ringing...

Wow! What a great night. My ears are still ringing, but I'm very happy to have been there!

Back to the real world...ish

Well, flying all over for now and the real world looms into view again. Having said that, somehow I managed to be lucky enough to get tickets for the Ahmet Ertigun tribute concert tonight, which of couse means I'm going to see Led Zeppelin! So I'm still some way from the ground :-)

Homeward bound

It feels like I've been away for a month... oh, I have been away for a month! Getting ready to start the journey home - for me the best part of any trip... Reflecting on the experience here shows many contradictions, for example, coming to Florida to fly was supposed to mean less problems with the weather, but I spent 10 days grounded for this very reason 7 days in one run. However, the deed is done and I have the documents to apply for the license. There are some great people that work here, but there are also some that need to take a long look at how they operate. There is HUGE potential for making the experience much more enjoyable, but several of the key staff seem to have become so jaded that they cannot or will not make any effort.

The real big plus has been meeting some really great people, some fellow "students" and instructors. A really colorful group who's spirit helps carry everyone through the bad bits.

I'll be back to reality soon enough.

Managed to get the test in this morning and passed. I'm very happy especially that I get to go home now :-)

almost...

...but not quite. The weather decided to play up a bit again and my test is postponed until tomorrow... One more day to stress and worry... ;-)
